12/26/2005 - Playing with the Merpeople

I was wading in the ocean and met a Merperson. He invited me to join in one of their games. There were several teams of players, some were land people and some were merpeople. The object was to throw objects at other teams during specified time periods, each hit scored a point, the most points at the end of the game wins. During the non-throwing times, the object was to raid the bases of the other groups and steal stuff to throw. My team collected plastic easter eggs and old chunks of cheese. We also had our secret weapon, two cans of baked beans and some spoons. Flinging spoonfuls of baked beans at the other players allowed us to score a point for each bean, lots of bang for the buck! Our strategy was to collect (steal) as much stuff as possible during the down times, especially since we wouldn't be able to do so during the rounds that were underwater for the benefit of the merpeople.
